Lazy Lizards Yoga Mat & DVD Review

This was such a fun review for me. I am reviewing the Lazy Lizards Yoga Mat & DVD. My son got to participate a lot more than usual because it was a Children's Yoga Mat & DVD.  I was worried that he wouldn't be able to do many of the yoga poses but the teacher in the DVD was fantastic. The poses were simple and explained really well for children, and she made it fun. He really enjoyed watching the other kids participating. It also was the perfect length. No toddler sits for very long and my son is no exception. He has a really hard time sitting still but the the DVD lasted about 30 minutes which was the perfect length for a child's attention level. They also have a few bonus songs and games which is nice for an older child.
Now lets talk about the mat! The mat is wonderful and made with real quality. It's the best quality children's yoga mat I have ever seen actually! It's not too thin and flimsy but it's also not overly cushioned which can cause injuries and make it harder to do the poses. It comes in four colors: blue, green, purple, and pink. It's also eco-friendly. It's lead and phthalate free! My favorite part about this mat is the cute designs on it that correlate with the video. They have 12 pictures on the mat that represent different poses including the down dog, and the lazy lizard. It's a great idea so the kids can see the poses on their mat. It's a simple design but perfect again for a toddler and young child. It also has a place to write your childs' name so they don't lose it. The size is great too! When I knew we were reviewing a child's yoga mat, I expected it to be really small but it wasn't. It is big enough for any child and has room to grow. I also love the non slip grip.
So, why should kids try yoga? Well for one, it's fun! I love doing it with my son. It also can help release energy and calm the body and mind. It's wholesome, strengthening, calming, and safe. If you want to read and learn more, Lazy Lizards Yoga website offers a lot more information about the benefits of yoga.
I have to say that I am pretty sold on this product. I really did enjoy the DVD and found it to be really helpful, simple, and perfect for kids. The only critique for this product is it would be nice to have a carrying strap or a case to travel with. I'm sure you could purchase a case that would work fine but Lazy Lizards does not sell or offer one. I did have to help my little guy, Logen with some of the poses and he did have to take a few breaks in between because he has a hard time sitting still but he is also a little younger than the recommended age. The recommended age is 3 and up and my little guy is 2. All in all, I think this is the perfect gift, activity, and the best yoga mat and DVD for kids. great job Lazy Lizards Yoga!

Cloud B. Sheep on the Go Review

The company, Cloud b. has such a beautiful and peaceful array of baby products. I own a few of them and love the soft fabrics and peaceful music. They are soothing. One of these products is the sleep sheep on the go. It can easily attach to a car seat or crib and can be set on a timer. It will play peaceful noises for that period of time and then turn itself off. It's battery powered and has volume control. The sound system is encased in an adorable stuffed animal sheep. I loved using this product for my newborn. I had it attached to his car seat and would use it a lot during those first few months. I still used it from time to time until we moved him into a bigger convertable car seat. That's when we stopped using it. My criticisms for the adorable sheep would be that when you travel with it, especially when it's attached to a car seat--the fabric gets dirty fast. It's a cream colored sheep that's fluffy so I had to wash it off many times and it has a little stain to it now. My other criticism is the velcro that holds the music box into the sheep. It wears out and one time, the music box fell out of the sheep because the velcro didn't hold it together. I would rather if it was held in by a zipper in a pocket or something that completely enclosed it. I would definitely recommend this product. It was a sweet, and cute soother.

PROS: adorable, soothing noises, volume control, set timer, travel friendly
CONS: velcro holding it together, gets dirty easily, expensive

Wubbanub Pacifier Review

I love this pacifier. When my mother brought it to me as a gift for our baby, at first I was a little confused why a stuffed animal was stuck to a pacifier. I also worried that it would weigh down the pacifier so he couldn't hold it in his mouth. However when our little logen came, he loved it. It was kind of big for him as a newborn (even though it was the 0-6 month size which is one criticism) but he quickly grew into it and now uses it every night. He loves to cuddle with it, It is much harder to lose (which is wonderful because we lose all of the pacifiers on an hourly basis), and it doesn't weigh down at all. We have no issues with that. My only 2 criticisms would be that they should a smaller one for a newborn (the stuffed animal was still a bit big for a little 0-3 month old), and my second criticism is the price. The price is a bit expensive. I will buy one for any other future children I have because I love how it works but I probably would never buy more than one because of the price.

PROS: hard to lose, cuddly, silicone pacifier
CONS: too big for newborn, high price

Phil & Teds Bouncer Seat Review

I was excited to try the Phil & Teds bouncer seat kit out now that I had purchaed the stroller with the doubles kit. I found a really good deal for the kit, and purchased it online. I recieved the seat and opened up the package to find that their was a crack in one of the seat bars. I immediately contacted the store and exchanged the item for another one. I waited for them to send me a replacement and when it arrived, I opened it up to find yet another crack. At this point, I was very frustrated but I still really wanted the kit and this company had by far the best price so I again asked for a exchange. I waited to recieve my third phil & ted's bouncer seat kit and when it arrived, I was amazed to find a very very small crack in the bar again. This one was so small that I decided to try and patch it up with electrical tape and use the kit at this point. I am still pretty convinced that the reason they were selling the Phil & Ted's bouncer kit for so cheap is because perhaps the products had been damaged or something. I still feel certain it wasn't all Phil & Ted's bouncer seats but it was disconcerning for the product. We did use the kit a handful of times but I would have used it more if I had recieved it on time. It worked pretty well and I think was comfortable for a newborn/infant. It's a bit pricey for a infant seat because that's all it is. It probably shouldn't be called a "bouncer seat" because that makes it seem like it really bounces a lot or moves. This infant seat has a little bounce to it but it's not really "bouncy". It's a very comfortable, and travel friendly infant seat. I enjoyed it and am glad I have one. I would use it quite a bit for travel. It's so simple to travel with. I wouldn't pay full price for it however, it's a bit expensive.

PROS: great for travel, folds up compact, comfortable
CONS: dealt with cracks in the frame (not sure it's phil & teds fault however), a little difficult to set up but not terrible, expensive, not really a bouncer

The kit sells for around $54.00. (I have found these on sale at a alot of places recently however and I'm sure you could find one at discount. places to check:babyearth.comamazon.com, and even ebay.com)

Bob Ironman Stroller Review

I don't have much negative to say about this stroller. It is just AWESOME. As you can see, I gave it an A because of how well made it is. I use this stroller all the time with my son and so I can personally say, it's better than I evenn thought it would be and it's so easy to use. I posted a video on youtube about it as well which goes over the key features in the stroller. here is the link: YOU TUBE BOB STROLLER REVIEW My main reason for loving this stroller is because it's so well made. Everything on this stroller is quality. It's also still lightweight which makes it easy for on the go travel. It folds up reasonably compact and will fit into a small trunk (it's still a full size stroller but it fits into the back of my prius fine). The bob stroller has a reasonable size basket. It's not huge but fits medium size diaper bags. The only big con with this stroller is that because it's so lightweight, you can't put hang heavy diaper bags or put lots of weight on the handle bar or it will tip the stroller. This is a made for joggers stroller. Everything is perfect for joggers that want to run with their little ones. Other favorite features with this stroller is: their seat is so wide and so it will fit and small baby up to a toddler+. They recommend not putting a child until 8 weeks in the stroller with out the car seat attachment but after that point, it's great for any child to be in it and you can have a newborn in there if you purchase the car seat attachment. Their are great accessories you can purhcase for this stroller separately.

One thing I recently felt like I should add to this review was to mention the steering and turning. The Bob Stroller has a fixed front wheel for jogging and so it sometimes is hard to get used with turning and going around corners. It definitely is not ideal for going around narrow areas however with that said, I recently went jogging with a swivel wheel stroller and now I know why the Ironman is better with a fixed wheel. The swivel wheel was going side to side constantly and it was very difficult to keep it going straight. I would much rather struggle a little with turning that deal with not going straight constantly. To turn, I ussually lift the stroller on the two back wheels while jogging and turn. It makes it easier and I've gotten used to it so I don't slow down too much doing that. Hope this helps! I love hearing suggestions, questions, feedback.
PROS: well made, quality, perfect for joggers, great suspension, great canopy!, not super easy to turn but it's that way for a reason.

CONS: can tip over if too much weight is on the handle bar, (it's not for shopping and holding heavy things, it's for jogging and on the go travel), the fixed wheel is sometimes hard to get used to with turning.

Boon Squirt Spoon Review

I love this spoon. I used it a lot when my son was just barely starting to use solid foods. I could put a little food in the spoon and then place it in the diaper bag and go where I needed to go. Then where ever I was, I could simply snap the lid off and feed my baby. It was relatively mess free and made it a lot easier as an on the go mom. I should say if you are a stay at home mom and you don't plan on going places a lot, than this product really isn't necessary. It was really nice to have when I was traveling and I could keep it in the diaper bag without having to tote baby food, spoons and everything else. It was easier.

My only concerns/complaints with this product are that, if you had really chunky baby food--it won't come out onto the spoon. It really has to be very smooth. Sometimes I would mash bananas by hand and then put them in the spoon and they would get stuck and not come out because it wasn't fine enough.

I know a lot of people have wondered whether or not their was issues with leaking. That's the main question I get and the answer is NO. I was so happy and relieved that I never had an issue with the spoon leaking out the baby food or anything. As long as you put the spoon cap and squeezy spoon together right, it shouldn't leak and should be fine.

I would love to answer questions or hear others' experiences with this spoon. feel free to leave comments or e-mail me for further information.

a vintage pram review.

this is an interesting review. I am reviewing my choice for getting a vintage pram to take on walks. While I will show my beautiful stroller and how it works, you must know--IT'S USED AND VINTAGE AND NOT ON THE MARKET ANYMORE so it will be difficult to find this exact stroller however, this review is more about my choice to purchase a used and vintage stroller.

I spent $100 on my beautiful stroller used. It was in wonderful condition and just needed a good cleaning. This was with out a doubt, A WANT PURCHASE. I did not need this stroller, and it isn't the easiest stroller I've ever used but I don't regret any of it. I love strolling around in it. I go on walks every day with my son and it's just a special gift. I took tons of beautiful pictures in it, I feel at peace on my walks (like I'm in no hurry), and it's my escape. It doesn't ever go in the car (it does fold down but is quite big). I have never folded it up. I simply keep it in the garage waiting for me to come back out the next day and take it out again. We also used this stroller with the pram feature as our bassinet for the first 3 months. It was fun having it in our room and it was on wheels so we could easily move it.

This kind of purchase should be for someone who lives in a walking-friendly neighborhood. This is for someone who loves everything vintage, and wants a unique and special gift. Some of you who purchase a vintage stroller may choose to never take it out on walks (especially if it's really old) and still love having it in the nursery and as a memento. I think that's wonderful too. The main point about this idea is: IT IS NOT FOR CONVENIENCE. I have other strollers I use to go on errands and run around. This was my sentimental gift to myself and it was the best purchase for me.

One of the set backs to this kind of a gift, is if we have more children-their are lots of questions on how we would use it. If we have two kids that are close together they may both want to ride in the stroller and so, it would be hard to continue using my vintage pram on walks. Of course, if you had multiples, it would be impossible and so whether or not, you would keep it for all of your children is in question. If they are far enough part, than you could still easily use it.

I've often thought that I could sell it and buy a new vintage stroller for each of my kids (and just use the money I sold it for to buy a new one) , and perhaps I could find a double vintage pram. I did buy my stroller for a steal and could probably sell it for a small profit however would I miss holding onto it? Their are lots of questions that you will need to think through as you make a purchase like this. I am still trying to decide what I will do with our vintage pram once we are expecting another child.

All in all, I love my stroller-I have no regrets but it is not the perfect gift for everyone.

Maxi Cosi Mico Car Seat

PROS:lightweightawesome design (classic, not trendy)easier to clean than most (not perfect though, we do have a few stains on the blue)decent price for similar car seat choicesgood safety ratings.

CONS:hard to snap into the base at firsta little confusing to set up for the first time into the carhandle bar is a bit bulky and hard for a smaller car

I chose the Maxi Cosi Mico Car Seat for my new baby. This decision took a lot of research, and time consuming internet searches. I wanted a car seat that was safe, light weight, easy to wash, modern, and a ventilating fabric. I looked at many car seats that would have made great contendors but I chose the maxi cosi mico because first off, it had good safety ratings. second, the fabric is wonderful. it's a very lightweight fabric, that's easy to clean, it can be machine washed, and had modern fabric choices. Other great things, it is a light weight car seat to carry around compared to most others. I have truly enjoyed the car seat and my son found it very comfortable. My criticisms would be: the handle bar has to remain back when you drive so that if their was an accident, it wouldn't fall or break onto the infant (this is with most/all other seats) however when you put the bar back it makes it a larger seat so you can't lean the front seat back at all or you will hit it. I don't think other seats with the bar back are quite as big. My other criticism is clicking the seat into the base. It's not a big deal and I got the hang of it as I did it daily but snapping the car seat into the base was a bit tricky and took some work.

Diaper Genie Review

Alright well, I got this given to me as a gift when I was a first time mom. I thought of it as a necessity since well, diapers don't smell so wonderful and baby's diapers get changed A LOT.

It worked fine and did keep the smell out really well. It held a reasonable amount of diapers, and wasn't super complicated to set up (especially if you have the instructions). The criticism for this diaper genie is simply that you dont need it and the bags constantly got stuck and were hard to change. I found it easier to simply take the diapers out each time than to use the diaper genie. I also find it too expensive for the refills. The trash isn't too bad but the refills are.

PROS
uniform design
keeps smell out of diaper can

CONS
expensive refills
a little too complicated to use
not a need

I think this isn't a bad product to get, I enjoyed it and think it works well, I just didn't find it to be a need and will not be using any diaper system for my second baby. I will just throw the diapers outside. If you find it a higher priority, then you will probaby like it. If you are under a budget, I would stick with the needs first, and then buy this with whatever you have left or decide you need/want.

Pottery Barn Anywhere Chair

This is my review for the potterybarn anywhere chair. I was so excited to get this for my toddler at christmas time. I knew he would love it and I didn't want some cheap and tacky chair, I wanted something with style for him.
This chair is very well made. It's sturdy, the cover is durable and machine washable. The size is perfect (however the baby's first anywhere chair would have been too small. I'm glad I got the regular size). I was able to find this chair on sale for $80 total. I would have bought the chair regular priced and was planning to but was thrilled I found a deal because that is a lot of money for a kid's chair. My other criticism is that the chair cover attracts pet hair like you wouldn't believe. I have a cat that enjoys the chair and was expecting this to be a problem but it is worse than I imagined. I have a regular blue canvas cover but it attracts a lot of hair. I have to use a lint roller on it all the time. Overall, I am thrilled about the chair and happy I bought it. Even though it was expensive, it really was worth the money and I hope to buy a new cover when it outgrows my son and pass it down to my next baby. we'll see...

PROS
  • well made
  • durable
  • easy to put together
  • good size (the regular size, not the first baby anywhere chair)
  • machine washable cover
  • great design

CONS
  • expensive
  • attracts pet hair easily
